Raw Banana Stir Fry

A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout.
But energy isn’t the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet. During pregnancy you need to follow a healthy diet so that you maintain a healthy sugar level (which I miserably failed at ) and iron level. Bananas help you with your  irons and make for a easy morning if  you catch my drift.
The green banana is simply an unripened yellow banana, it has different uses. While you can eat the yellow banana immediately after peeling, the green banana is best eaten cooked, either boiled or fried. Nutritionally, the green banana is a good source of fiber, vitamins and minerals, and contains a starch that may help control blood sugar, manage weight and lower blood cholesterol levels.
It is used very often as a part of Oriya day to day cooking.
Here is one recipe that is  surely not from Orissa but is very delicious and healthy.

Ingredients:

  1. Raw Banana: 2 large 
  2. Onion: 1 small finely chopped
  3. Garlic: 2-3 cloves crushed
  4. Pancha Phutan: 1 tbsp
  5. Turmeric Powder: 1 tsp
  6. Curry Leaves: 2-4
  7. Red Chilli Powder: 1 tbsp
  8. Coriander Powder: 1 tsp
  9. Salt as per taste
  10. Olive oil: 1 tbsp

Recipes:
Cut the bananas into half and soak in water for couple of minutes.
Then peel the bananas and cut into small cubes.
In a saucepan take all the bananas, 2 cups of water, turmeric and salt to taste and bring it to a boil and let the bananas cook till soft.
Drain the bananas.
In a kadhai heat oil .
Add the pancha phutan and curry leaves. As the pancha phutan stops popping add  the crushed garlic and let then brown a bit and then add chopped onion with a pinch of salt and cook  till the onions are slightly golden.
Then add the cooked bananas along with red chili powder and coriander powder and stir well.
Cook for another 4-5  mins and serve it hot with roti or dal rice and enjoy.


Its healthy, easy and yummy.
