Paneer Tikka Biryani

Continuing with my obsession with flavored rice, here is another one "Paneer Tikka Biryani". As I have mentioned in my previous post paneer tikka is one of the most sot after appetizers for vegetarians, here is another variation that changes it into a great main dish which is great for parties.


Ingredients:


Paneer Tikka:

  1. Paneer : albs cut into cubes
  2. Onion : 2 cut into large chunks
  3. Thick Curd : 1 cup
  4. Red Chili Powder: 1 tsp
  5. Ginger Garlic Paste : 1 tbsp
  6. Kastoori Methi : 1 tbsp
  7. Lime Juice : of 1/2 a lemon
  8. Oil : 2 Tbsp
  9. Salt: 1 tsp
  10. Orange Food color: few drops(Optional)
Biryani: 

  1. Basmati Rice: 1 cup soaked for  30 mins
  2. Whole Garam Masala: 2 cloves, 2 cardamon, 2 Javitri
  3. Sahi Zeera: 1 tsp
  4. Mint Leaves: 1/2 cup chopped
  5. Coriander Leaves: 1/2 cup chopped
  6. Green Chili: 2-3 sliced
  7. Salt : 1/2 tsp
  8. Oil: 1 tsp
  9. Fried Onion: 1 cup
  10. Biryani Masala: 1 tsp
  11. Food color: few drops (Optional)

Procedure:

Lets start with the paneer tikka first. 
Take a bowl add thick curd, red chilli powder,salt,kasoori methi powder, lime juice, ginger garlic paste and add oil little mix well and add the onion and paneer mix well. Add a few drops of food color.

Now there are 2 option go forward :
  • If you have a grill that can be easily set without any hasle then go ahead set the marinated paneer and veggies on sewers and grill them till done.
  • Else in a non stick pan add one table spoon of oil ,add marinated paneer and vegetables, cook both the sides, once it is done keep a side.
For the biryani boil 2 cups of water add oil to the boiling water. Add the sahib zeera and whole garam masala to the water. Add the soaked rice and cook for about a min or so. Drain all the water and keep it aside.
In a rice cooker pan add little oil. Add the grilled panner and onion, half of the mint leaves, coriander leaves, green chili and half of the fried onions. Add 1/2 cup of water, now layer the rice evenly all over the paneer. Add rest of the coriander leaves, mint and fired onion. Finally sprinkle some biryani masala and few drops of food color.
Set the rice cooker to white rice and let it cook.


Once the timer is up, your biryani is ready.





Enjoy this yummy dish with raita and enjoy.
